Ghinwa Baradhi is the Chief Information Officer for HSBC in Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. She is responsible for the Bank’s technology function supporting over 10,000 colleagues across 220 sites managing a budget of around $300M. In this capacity, Ghinwa focuses on creating superior Customer Experience and Business Value through Technology and innovation developing the needed strategies for growth, business simplification and efficiency. In recognition, Ghinwa has been awarded Computer News Middle East (CNME) Tahawul Tech CIO 100 2020, and the MENA CIO of the Year by the International Data Corporation (IDC) CIO Excellence 2019.
Ghinwa has been with HSBC for 15 years. During her tenure, she has undertaken multiple Regional and Global roles within the Technology organisation across various functions.
She’s a thought leader with over 25 years of experience in Banking Technology and Operations. Prior to HSBC, Ghinwa has held various senior roles, with Emirates NBD bank, in areas of Enterprise Architecture, Business Intelligence, CRM, Data Warehouse and Wholesale Trade.
Ghinwa is HSBC’s deputy chair representative at the UAE Banks Federation IT Committee. She’s also HSBC’s nominated Executive Sponsor for DIFC FintechHive, Dubai. She’s also a mentor for AccelerateHer program within FintechHive.
She’s a Board member of the CIOMajlis Forum powered by SmartWorld Dubai realizing the vision of UAE Innovation Strategy. She’s also a public speaker and has participated in various conferences as a keynote as well as different panels on various subjects.
Ghinwa holds an MSC in Computer Science from Lebanese American University, an MBA from Bradford University, and certified SAFe 5.0 Agilist. Additionally, Ghinwa has been featured in many publications.
